Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that
you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Rom.15:13)

In May of 1985 a support group of three members began meeting in Wheaton, Illinois.  Their purpose was to provide Biblically based teaching, encouragement, guidance, and prayer support for men and women who struggle with homosexuality.  The message was clear: there is freedom from homosexuality through Jesus Christ.

In the following years Overcomers has sought to spread its message to the greater Chicago area, the state of Illinois and other parts of the country.  Our voice has found its way into churches, high schools and colleges.  It has been heard through television, radio, print and the internet.  It crosses denominational, racial and economic lines.  We have ministered to the illiterate and to graduates from institutions of higher education.  Our message has brought real hope not only to addicts, prostitutes and the homeless but to pastors, priests, missionaries, spouses, sons, daughters and loved ones looking for healing.

Since 1985 we have witnessed many changes in the world and the Church.  We have learned to address a variety of issues in the course of our ministry: bisexuality, cross-dressing and HIV/AIDS, to name only a few.  Revelations of sexual abuse and the proliferation of sexual addictions are painfully evident in this broken world; therefore we remain firmly committed to the task of healing and recovery for all who would pursue it.  Those who are confused in their sexual identity, who are victims of abuse or who struggle with addictions need to know that ALL things are possible as they become new creatures in Christ.  (2 Cor. 5:17-18)

We pray that the Lord will write His words on the hearts of all who seek His healing.

I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard
my cry.  He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry
clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established my goings. And
he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God:
many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.  (Ps. 40:1-3)
